Default Can anyone tell me where to get info on repairing a grand am

it's my daughters car and it's got a blown head gaskett what I'd like to know is how do you get the rear exhaust manifold off , any help would really be appreciated or lead me in the right direction tks.

What engine and what year? Ffront or back head and how do you know its the head gasket?

I have to remove both but it's the rear one facing the firewall Ican't get at and it's a 3.1 engine and the anti freeze is getting into the oil, thanks for replying 1996

The 3.1 has major issues with the lower intake gasket. If left unfixed for a time it will hydro lock a cylinder and blow out the head gasket. The rear manifold should come off easily. First remove the heat sheild they are little 8 mm heads and some will break. After that theres 3 bolts to un do under the tb and 6 bolting the manifold to the head and 2 holding it to the rest of the exhaust. A note of caution replace the ex. manifold bolts that go into the head when u put it back together they will break. If you have any other questions fell free to ask if ive done one ive done a 100.

ta12sec, do you have to lower the engine and remove the manifold from underneath or pull the engine it seems impossible to get at it in the car helppppppp

Ok unhook the upper motor mounts (dogbones) on the bottom of one should be a small loop reattach the mount using this loop.(note you will need to pull the engine foward to line it up) This will hold the engine foward about 4 inchs leaving you plenty of room.
