79 camaro
Hey everyone, this may sound like a stupid question but i'm new to all off this. what we've got here is a 1979 camaro with a 305 and i have a 1979 camaro z28 the previous owner put a 350 in the z28 what i want to do is put the 350 in the RS because the z28 body is just completly shot. what i need to know is, can i just do a straight forward swap or do i need other things also. they've both of carbs, but i was told can just swap the engine and connect everything back up, but i think that just sounds a little to easy. So is there anything else that we need to take off the z28 inorder for this to work properly?
Thanks
Thanks

I think it's like you have been told. Since the 305, and the 350 have the same bolt pattern to the trans and the same engine mounts.
I think you can go with the 305 radiator and trans (as long as its a th350 or th400) but if you want to be sure about the radiator change it as well.
One thing I would have done is to mount the 305 cylinder heads on to the 350 to give it better compression ratio. A friend told me to do so, because one other friend of his had done it and the 350 got so much better with the 305 heads.
Other wise a strait forward procedure and it takes proximately an evening.

hey man, thanks a lot i really appreciate it, do you know what the compression would be with the 305 heads? also we're swapping the trans to, because it has lower miles on it.

I dont know the figures.... but i could probobly count on it... but you probobly would get almost a kilo.. from 8,5 to 9.5 thats what i am gessing but i dont realy know.. depends on what heads that ar mounted on the 350 right now..
