Default trans. filter seal ?

I changed my transmission filter 04 my 04 GTO but i didn't replace the new trans. seal that the trans. neck locks into inside the trans. because I didn't have a tool for this and being my 1st time doing this I didn't want to damage anything trying to get it out.I used the old one, Is this ok ? Would this cause possible problem down the road ?

I personally feel if the seal fits well on the filter, leave it alone. I have seen guy's do more bad than good in this area. I always replace this seal at the time of the overhaul and I think with your car being an 04 your probably ok. Vince

As long as the filter has good resistance on the seal it should be fine.
