Default What is this? Took pictures, please help!

I came into my brother's shop and put my car up on his lift. I'm getting wheel play on my steering wheel and were trying to find out what it was. I checked,

1. Worn tie rod ends. Inner or outer.
2. Rag joint or slip joint in steering shaft.
3. Steering rack&pinion

Everything seemed to be fine but I did find one thing. Some kind of bolt is missing and you will see from the pictures below:

Driver Side

Passenger Side

I don't know what that missing part is called. Also do you think it may have to deal with the wheel play that I'm getting?

Off topic I know, but is that a serious question? Do you work on cars every day? You're hands get disgusting so fast and stay that way. You have better feel without them but I always try to work with a pair on.

LOL naw I just find it funny that its rubber surgery gloves as opposed to some gloves made out of some kind of material. I know if I wore rubber ones I would still cut my hands all up and they would probably get ripped on everything.

Did you just get this car? I'm guess the previous owner took it out to the drag strip enough times to forget to put the link back on.

I actually got the car like 3 years ago. I started to notice the wheel play after a night back from a cruz and were doing some pretty tight turns. Do you think that part fell out?

Just called Autozone and they have 1 for $6.99 with 90 day warranty and $8.99 with lifetime warranty. Might as well pay $2.00 more for the lifetime right?

You might as well buy two and replace both.

That car is rusty as hell, and I'd just replace both. Do things right the first time, and hopefully you won't have to worry about it again.

It's typical for the bolts to rust bad inside the bushings.
Probably broke off and fell out.

Yeah, I'm just going to replace both of them. Is a alignment needed after?
