Question how low is too low for exhaust??

I have a stock height 99 camaro ss. I have PaceSetter LT headers and PaceSetter off road Y pipe. I wanna lower my car as low as I can, which i know is only about 1 to 1.5 inches with my exhaust. is there a way to tuck my exhaust up to keep it from hitting the ground?

I dunno about the LS1 but the LT1 Pacesetter Y pipe clearance is almost zero so I'm gonna go out on a limb and say no.... I mean you could always somehow raise your motor mounts, but that would negate the effect of lowering as far as center of gravity is concerned.

I had my 00' SS lowered on sportlines and I was running XS headers w/TSP td's, only had problems with the big speed bumps and some big dips.

You're not really going to get your exhaust up anymore than it is. I have LT's and will be going with a 1-1.25" drop.

I know I can drop it an inch but I would like to drop it 1.5 inches and be able to drive around without hitting every speedbump and scrapping when I pull into parkinglots

The lower you go, the higher chance you have of bottoming out. It depends on your header brand mostly and what kind of springs you use.

I have Pacesetters and the TSP catted y-pipe. I avoid speed bumps like the plague, and I often find myself going out of the way and/or avoiding some places altogether, because I know I won't have clearance. You'll have to change your driving style.

I would look into finding an exhaust shop that can custom-fabricate a good y-pipe. Some shops do wonders with oval tubing, and if you find one that can modify the body brace points under the floorboards, they can tuck very tight. Just make sure they find a way to keep it from banging underneath.

I have a Spohn tunnel mounted TA and thats the lowest part of my car. I have hooker LTs and I fabbed up my 2.5" x-piped exhaust and have it tucked up as tight as you can get IMO and I can't fit a pepsi can under my headers at stock height and I'm going to lower it with Strano springs. I won't be able to take my car and park in the upper parking lot at work because of the speed bumps, but thats really the only place that I won't be able to go around here.

I'd say just be careful and you won't have any problems

I'm on Strano's w/ Pacesetter LT's and TSP TD's and I only have about 2-2 1/2 inches of clearance. I have to take any dips/bumps at a strong angle going very slllloooowwww!!!

The Z is lowered but I wouldn't say 'slammed' but every now and again we will scrape in certain areas. We try our best to keep the ride 'light'. Like big bodies are a NO NO. haha

I have 2" from header to concrete, and an inch and a quarter front tire to fender.
