Default Got to the dyno...Thoughts?

I know it's probably not the smartest idea to start with a cam and I didn't go into it expecting unrealistic numbers for an otherwise stock car.

2004 GTO M6 39,XXX miles

TSP 233/239 .595/.603 112
Patriot Gold dual .650 springs kit
Hardened 7.400 pushrods
LS2 timing chain
K&N in the box filter
and a tune.

First dyno pull 277/271 with a basic tune. After tuning, we showed hp and tq gains through the entire RPM range, but ended with 326/312 at the wheels.

Thoughts? I'm not looking for advice on what to do next. Thanks!

Nope. Everything else is stock. Just an FYI for anyone who considers that cam on a stock LS1.

I know the exhaust is choking it up pretty good.

Huh, my dad's bone stock 2004 GTO M6 put down 300 hp to the wheels and a little under 300 rwtq, so I suppose with NO other mods, a cam-only might yield those results. Sounds like it was really weak untuned, though.

I think this is a case where LT's will show a huge improvement. That's a pretty bad choice of cam for stock manifold back exhaust.

Thanks. I didn't know what I really thought about the results. The lady who ran the dyno said that '04 GTO's had been putting down ~250 stock on her dyno. I don't know if I believe that or not though.

Ahh, I forgot to mention it was on a Mustang dyno. My apologies. The car feels much stronger on the street. I'm pleased with how it runs cam only.

I was just a bit surprised by the numbers. I've heard that a Mustang dyno can show numbers lower than a Dyno Jet. From the base tune to the dyno tune we gained 49hp and 43tq to the wheels and only came up with 326/312.

A mustang dyno is a chassis dyno. A 49 HP gain cam only with no boltons is a solid gain. Dont worry about the dyno numbers, some read lower than others.

First time I got my car dyno'd I was 295 on a mustang dyno. Needless to say I was a bit underwhelmed. Then a guy with a procharged z06 got on the same dyno, and pulled a 385. He had 475 numbers on another dynojet, and was pissed.

To the OP, it's all relative. You got some nice gains from your cam

Well i'm not too dissapointed in my results then, my cam is a 113+3 232/234, with an LQ9/317 heads

Only made 290/380, Looks like headers are next for us - But still strong numbers from your baseline!
