does someone make a thinner water pump pulley? for clearance
the ls1 water pump has a HUGE pulley on it that extends outward. Since many people do conversions, it seems like this would be an item that they would have on the market- a shorter pulley
im not able to have my electric fan in the center of my radiator because the water pump's pulley extends soo far out that it would hit the fan's motor
anyone know of a water pump pulley you can get that replaces the stock 'bell' like pulley?

FbodyLS1 and GTO LS1&LS2 used this type
LS2 Corvette Waterpump is interchangeable (provided your belt does not slip off the front of the pulley).

[They say for Corvette only....because the pulley is so thin, Corvette belts run about 3/4" in closer to the block than F-body or GTO]
Corvettes have different crank pulley, accessory brackets and tensioners etc because of this different belt offset.

If you are using an Fbody or GTO Crank pulley/Harmonic Balancer and Fbody or GTO front accesories then both belts run about 3/4" further away from the engine block than a similar setup using all Corvette items.
So if you put a Corvette water pump into the above Fbody or GTO system the danger is the main belt will be running too close to the front edge of the Corvette water pump pulley.
What some people have been known to do when faced with this problem is carefully use a puller to slide the Corvette water pump pulley outward along the shaft about 3/8" and then tack weld it back to the shaft. Of course nobody would guarantee or recommend you did this.

Pump spacers
Don't know if it would be what you are looking for, but Wegner Motorsports,920-394-3557, will cut spacers for you to space your later waterpump out to match in whatever thickness you want. You will also have to use a little common sense and space your tensioner pulley to line up your belt and lower pulley. I had the problem you have of no room for electric fan on my '34 coupe, plus I had to build accessory drive for air and alt. Wegner made mine 1/2" thick and I used the paper type gaskets I got from a local waterpump rebuilder. You also might have a rebuilder in your area who will work with you. The one close to me has helped me on various projects by moving pulleys or shortning pumps or changing shafts, etc. Moving the pulley forward 3/8" inch should be a no-brainer for a waterpump rebuilder. The corvette accessories do run the belt closer to the block than the F bodies, and truck motors run everything farther out than that.
To run the vette water pump why couldn't you switch to all vette accessories and the vette crank pulley? I know it works to install F body accessories to a vette motor.

We used the LS2/7 short pulley pump on our '99 Fbody LS1 engine. We had to: use the CTS-V tensioner with (4) washers between it and the pump body, and space the pump out from the block with spacers from www.wegnerautomotive2.com. The above was done to get the Fbody serpentine belt to track properly on the new short pulley.
As an alternate to using the Wegner spacers, you could pull the LS2/7 pulley about 3/8" to 7/16" forward on its spindle shaft.

I used a four-jaw Snap-on puller and applied just a very little bit of heat to the pulley as I started to build tension with the puller. The keyword here is PATIENCE......not to just crank the puller until pieces start to fly. Mine just started to slowly move as I applied torque, until it was where I needed it. I let it cool down a bit before I hit it with the MIG torch just enough to put a button at the end of the shaft to the pulley. That might be the cave-man way but the pulley is still perfectly straight and it works.

Yeah, but a lot of people don't run the vette stuff, so there might be chance to get some used. The F body alt mount fits some cars better than the vette stuff.
Moving the S2 pulley farther out kind of defeats the purpose. If you need the clearance, running the vette crank pulley and water pump might buy you what is needed.
