Default racing

So, I know a lot of you guys prolly race on here and I was wondering where you guys buy your helmets from and what kind of helmet you need?...I heard they have some kind of expiry date?

Im just starting to get into it and Im pretty sure I read that if you car runs 13.99 or faster you need one

Im looking to probably go to cayuga sometime in may with the 3.8 and hopefully break 13's so Im gunna need one...where can I buy one physically, Im gunna need to try it on, I have a super small head lol.

Go to the track first as I have not seen a V6 Camaro go faster then 15's. I know of one guy that did a lot on mods to his car and the fastest he could get was 15.02. BTW, 13.99 is for convertibles and 13.5 for hardtops or t-top cars.

I don't think you would need one either. Although you may want one even if not required for extra safety. If you do get one, I'm sure it could be a M2005 helmet for motorcycles, would be alot cheaper, the only difference is they are not certified for a fire. Try some on at a motorcycle shop near you. Maybe buy there or aleast get a proper size to order online.

From the NHRA Rule book...

A helmet is required for the driver of any car or truck running 13.99 seconds or quicker in the quarter mile, and for the rider of any motorcycle. Most drivers can use a helmet meeting SNELL K98, M2000, SA2000, M2005, or SA2005 specifications. Professional category and some alcohol burning vehicles require an SA rated helmet. It is important to note that the helmet rating must be designated on a tag INSIDE the helmet, or sewn to one of the helmet straps. The designation stenciled on the exterior of the helmet is insufficient for NHRA technical inspection. Also, some tracks require a helmet on ALL drivers, so check in advance.

If you hit a 13.99... and they try to stop you from running again... just tell them it's your first time in the 13's.... and you'll get it next time out. I don't think they'll be that tough on you for a 13.9x without a helmet.

What is your Head worth ??. $500.00 I would think there is no cost is there for saftey ??. Even say you go 90-110 mph in the 1/4 i would not want to hit something without a helment at those speeds. Just my 2 cents

full bolt on 3.90 gears, and I'll be doing some mild weight redux...I dunno if it will break 13's...Im hoping for it, but at the very worst I'd like low low 14's...we'll see what happens
