Default Best way to clean used internal parts?

What do you guys do to clean/prep used engine components for a new build? I have some nice parts but they are a bit dirty and I would like to clean them up. Is there a solution I can use to soak them in or anything like that?

It's just springs so brake cleaner it is. I kind of thought that would work good but wasn't sure if it was too harsh. Thanks guys.
