Is it $110.00/hr. for auto labor? Is there a set database that shops are supposed to go by? Any links or insight to this?

It all depends on the market (area) your in. The best way to figure it out would be to call around to the type of places your most intersted in, in your area and average it. There is no guide that i am aware of.

does it also depend on the type of work as well?

Yeah, dealers and "specialty" shops (like german cars only) generally charge more than an independent would. Then you cross into maintenance only places like jiffy lube or sears which go way lower. Dealers in my area range from 85 dollars an hour to 100 or so.

Are you asking about the general rate that a shop would charge its customers, or what a shop would pay its employees?

The dealer I work at charges $134/hour. But I don't feel too bad for the customers because it's Mercedes. If they can spend that kind of money on a car they can afford the service.
