Default LQ4 pricing and freshening

Hello all, I'm new here so go easy on me if this is supposed to be common knowledge. I'm in talks with someone about getting an LQ4 motor with all accessories, wiring harness, pedals, etc. I think I can get it for $1000 from him, is that a good deal on the motor? It was apparently running fine when removed from a yukon with approx. 70k miles on it. Should I bite or leave it?

Next, what to do with it. The motor will be going in an S13 240SX. I'm looking to make around 450hp to suit my needs. I've got a lot of time to do the swap so I thought I'd start by freshening up the motor. What all would you replace on it or have done to the block to freshen it up? I'll search around for the right parts combo to make my hp, (unless you feel like telling me now), but my main question here is just what all is involved in freshening up the motor? Thanks a lot!
