Default question about spinning the motor to 7 grand

i have my motor apart and noticed a few of the rod bearings were a bit worn out so all new clevite main and rod bearings are going in. with these installed with a set of arp 2000 rod bolts can i spin the motor to 7k. my heads/cam setup should be pulling still at that rpm, but im still not sure if it is safe to spin it that high. any input would be greatly appreciated.

itll be fine...7k on a factory 2000+ motor is not that risky.

With the rod bolts you should be fine. Also make sure to have aftermarket pushrods as well.

Just make sure all tolerances are within spec and you'll be fine.

With the ARP bolts you'll be fine but I'm sure you're gonna hear that you should now get the rods checked out that you've removed the caps and are putting in the ARP's rather than the Katechs... Which is true.

Throw in a Melling oil pump and you have a very reliable setup to 7200...

Not to mention that if your rod bearings show aging then your main bearings will as well. IMO rebuild the full shortblock.

i bought some clevite main bearings and clevite rod bearings. i have a brand new ported ls6 oil pump, and with the brand new hardened pushrods. here is the setup...

redone partiot ls6' milled to 59cc with 2.055 1.6 valves with patriot gold springs all setup to proper tolerences, spring pressure etc. ported typhoon 85mm intake with mathcing tb. 85mm fast toys lid. cam is a custom grind 231/238 .617 .608 ,comp hardend pushrods, pacesetter ceramic coated longtubes, slp underdrive pulley, gm mls head gaskets....and i cant think of anything else besides the new main bearings, rod bearings, and rod bolts. in theory the setup should perform rather well.

REALLY? I actually spun a bearing and didn't opt to rebuild the whole engine. Just had the crank turned, replaced the bearings a put in ARP rod bolts. Should i be concerned about reliability?

i spin my 99 SS to 7000 rpm on a regular bases with out a problem. so with rod bolts i would not worry about it one bit.

No but you did a half rebuilt. Did you blueprint and balance the setup? Did you check rods for roundness?

There was no blueprinting/balancing. The crank was sent to a machine shop, turned/polished. New rod-bolts/bearings were installed. The rods were inspected visually, which means that they were not checked for roundness I assume.
