Default 03-04 cobra owners come in...question on rwhp vs mods

04 cobra cai/2.8 pulley/dynomax bullets/gutted cats/afco heat exchanger/and a dyno tune...on a mustang dyno car made 403/403...

well a sponsor here no names I wont do that had there dynojet at the track
the cobra made 386 rwhp...

numbers sound odd dont these cars make upwards of 425 on a dynojet with these mods...the guy said the dyno had been calibrated a week prior...

not saying the numbers were fudged but how easy would it be to do??looked as if there cars were throwing some sick #s with no traps to back them up..and the cobras did....

Your post is a little hard to read. Anyways, I believe pullied Cobras usually make around 460 on a dynojet.

Stock.... The 03/04 Cobras dyno in the 370-380rwhp range. With just a pulley/intake/catback/tune, they can see in the 430-450rwhp range.... Those numbers seem alil low....

What kind of MPH did that car dynoing 386 make? My friend had a mystichrome 04' car... CAI/pulley/Magnaflow CB/tune - 447 RW on a dynojet 248x. I want to say his car trapped in the 117-119 range on nittos.

The dyno operator can make any car put down any amount of power he/she wants too.... All in the correction factors. Very easy.

Where at in Va are you? Im in Chesapeake.... South Eastern Va. What track do you go to that eats up mph???

Car should be 430-450rwhp and higher TQ. Cobra's dyno a lot lower if they are hot. Normally cobra guys cool their cars off and put Ice on the blower before a dyno run. If he put the car on hot the 390 ish # is very possible. I have seen many cobras drop 20+rwhp as the car heats up with multiple dyno runs.

A friend of mine has a 03 cobra. When he bought it the owner gave him the dyno sheets and they were 411 rwhp, 400 rwhp, and 390 rwhp. They were the same day back to back dyno pulls. This was done on a dyno jet in Oklahoma City. His mods at the time were bassani x pipe and bassani catback. fyi

im in southwest va we race at bristol tennessee....track sets at 1400ft and has a 1-4% incline......most stock ls1 cars run low 14s high 13s...very nice facility but an e/t eater.....usualy takes 30to40 more rwhp to run what cars run at other tracks.....

my buddys car trapped 114 at commerce ga and trapped 108 at bristol....
Idk we are getting the same response everywhere on the net....car shouldve made more it made 403 hp and tq on a mustang dynoe a week prior.....there was a t/a dynoed before him and made 413rwhp but trapped 3mph slower...

we think he got screwed...thanks for the replies...

hmmm thats really odd, my cobra before any exhaust and the ported t/b and plenum put the numbers in my sig with the addition of the above i put down 463 and 4xx tq. i would say get it looked at or take it to the track if your traps are lower than 115 you may have a problem or you cant drive.

My 04 did 405 with just a cai/cb and it went 12.5@112.5 with those two mods only on stock tires. My next mods were a steig ported blower, Nitto 18" drs, 2.93 pulley, tune and mid pipe and the car went 11.49@124.89

I will post up and say it we took our mobile Dynojet to the tracka nd it was our dyno that it was on. There were no dyno tricks done.

The guy drove the car in after a little over an hour trip let the car sit for 15 minutes and dynoed it. The car pulled 113mph in the 1/4 which is right inliine with the hp that it dynoed.

I know the owner of the company and the operator of the dyno and they are some of the most honest people I know. Its stupid to think that just because someone brings one of the fastest cars on the planet a " COBRA" to dyno they are just going to F**k him.

Dynos are for tuning!

What did the car make at the track MPH wise at Bristol?

Also, The other car they are comparing this car to with which has the same mods with the exception of a homemade exhaust on one and different tuners. One trapped 119 and one the other 113, they may have the same mods but there is obviously a power difference between the 2 cars.
