Default need Help Oil Pressure Gauge Notchy acting

After I drive my car for a while the oil pressure gauge acts notchy as in when I go to shift it suddenly drops to 40 psi and when I letr off clutch it goes to say 55 or 60 psi sudden like. Acts like the gauge is sticking. Is this a normal problem with these type cars this old. Camaro SS w/ 115k miles using castrol 15w 30 with Napa filter. Hoping it is just the gauge if so where can I check it manually with a remote gauge at.

I would check the connector at the sending unit. It wouldn't hurt pull the sending unit and see if it's getting gunked up at the fitting maybe. Could just be a bad sender also.

Another question, why are you 15w 30?

The sending unit is at the back of the engine behind the intake.
