5.3 heads and big cam
so ive bought a set of 5.3 heads and im going to have them taking down to 59 cc and ported
im looking for a cam and i really want to use a ms4 but having a hard time finding one for my price
i have found a bunch of custom cams that are larger than ms4 and i was wondering how big can i go with these heads
i know the ms4 need flycutting which im willing to do but are some of these cams im looking at to big for the head (ie as to much flycutting of pistions)

If he didn't get the heads specifically from TSP for use with the MS3....he will have to flycut (they recess the valves slightly). And yes...any of the cams mentioned will have to have the pistons flycut with the 5.3 head. It's a stock head...but the chamber is smaller and clearances are closer than a stock LS1 head.

he's having the heads milled guys....so all those cam you say will fit...WON'T
i gues i'm curious why you seem to think you need to go so big on the cam? why not spend the money on better heads, a better custom cam...and you'll make the same if not more power.
big is not always better
as for:
"is an ls2 stock cam too much for these stock 5.3 heads? (.500 intake, .500 exhaust)"
you must be kidding right? that's such a small cam (if it even works on the ls1) its not worth the time and money to swap it out.
most of the cams these guys are talkin about are .600-.645" lift.....

We can CNC port the heads, cut the valvejobs, and deck the heads if you would like. If you want, we can also put on a set of PRC Dual springs to support these larger cams you are wanting to run. We can set you up with a package with everything you will need to complete the install from the cam, pushrods, gaskets, timing chain, oil pump, ect. We can always spec you a custom grind cam to match your combo if you prefer. Give us a call or shoot me a PM and we can take a look at some pricing and go over the setup!
