Default Mods. Just about to start!

Hey guys i got a couple questions for ya. I've been searchin around and i think im going to go with a 3400 stall and 3.73's for my first mods. My first question is, will this have a big impact on a stock car? Ill also throw new tires out back. But anyway, where can i find a good priced stall? Yank is a little to steep for me and im thinkin more along the lines of a TCI or Vig. Anyone have experience with these? Also where did ya purchase? The gears WILL BE Motive. But my main question is how big of a difference will this make in the car overall? Thanks. All help is appreciated.

+1 Check the for sale section often for a good price on a stall . Aslo if you are going to do a gear swap go ahead and get some 4.10s . Your automatic is more forgiving and being you are not too modded you should be making great times with that setup alone .

you're on the right track so far!! I would also look into some subframe connectors so you'll get even more consistency @ the track! Good choices w/ Vig and Motive both are good and commonly used products on this site! YES, you'll see a pretty big difference in performance!! Base your gearing around your driving. For a DD car I'd definitely go 3.73 but that's only personal preferece, but track wise, 4.10's would be your best bet. Driveability w/ those both gears and the stall will be fine as well. Throw 'em in and watch your ET's drop!!!

Do not do 4.10's for street driving in an auto. 3.73 is my limit if you want to drive it on the street much, as in almost a DD. Do not go TCI with the converter, stay with a precision vig. LCAs are a good mod, as well as a PHB and some SFCs. I would get the stall and gears first, and then go with the LCAs because you will need them. Then probably headers, then SFCs and PHB.

I DD my car with 4.10s for probably 2 months. Its pretty steep. You run like 3000 at exactly 80 on the interstate. Kind of sketchy :-/

Well even though i get discounts on tires(where i work) ill be shelling out $500 on BFG Radials to fit on my 18" C5's. This is for only 2 tires LMFAO broke. Then insurance payment, car payment, paying off school fee's (so i can graduate the 19th), and then kinda relaxing. But i will go with Motive 3.73's, Yank 3600, Tune and then go from there.

My advice is to get quality parts and do not be cheap. Yank and Vig are great converters and don't forget to get a transmission cooler to go with it.

Some other mods that are good to begin with is a lid and ported throttle body. Those mods are also very easy to install yourself.

The more and more i think about it im pondering wether or not to just save up for awhile. This is probably the route im going to take considering ill feel better to get everything at once.

My car with manifolds and stock exhaust went 13.1 with a 4k converter alone...... This was on 3.23 gears and threw cats and manifolds.... just the addition of a good intake headers and exhaust it went a best of 12.56... Not to shabby....
