Default QTP Electric Cutout Durability

How long have you guys had your electric cutouts and not had problems? I once had a local guy tell me he went through a bunch of QTP electric cutouts, they kept going bad and needing rebuilt after 6 months. I'm wondering if anyone else has had that problem.

Ive been through 6 QTP cutouts.. ive been using a e-cutout for about 4 yrs.. Ive had them break teeth, completley fly off when driving lol, motors self destruct... I open / close mine alot but it should still be able to withstand that.. To me there pos's . Im about 8 months in on my DMH 3" e-cutout . rattles a little when closing but i can deal with that. I love having an electric cutout but damnnn QTP needs to step up their ****

QTP makes the best stainless exhaust pieces around, period.

For example, their Stainless cutouts are amazing.

.........
.........in the lines of electric motors however, they do in fact fail.

When I compare the physical quality of the QTEC30 (3" electric) to others, QTP's is clearly made to a higher, more rigid grade.... but again, the electrical aspect leaves more than a little to be desired. I went through 2, and dealing with them was too much of a hassle, so I switched to another make.

Let me again stress this though: QTP makes great stainless products, I have their headers, I've used their ORY pipe, and I've used their cutoout bodies, and they're all grade A.

Mine came apart, I'm very dissatisfied. They blame improper installation, which is completely false. Improper assembly on their part is the culprit.

Mine leaks and the shaft is jammed. You can send them back to QTP for $15 and they will repair them. I love the idea and when it was working I loved it. I might look at the DMH the next time.

Mine sucked it up big time. It worked great for about 3 months. Then it jammed. I tore open the motor, cleaned/lubed everything up and it worked for about 2 hours. It is now embedded in the side of my shed.

5 years on my QTP, no problems, but only about 20,000 miles-weekend ride. Numerous 1/4 mile runs, keep closed most of the time on the street, unless one of those new GT rustangs needs to hear what a real V8 sounds like.

Mine was good for about 9 months....then the problems began. Pretty much par for the course with QTP (and electric cutouts in general). Funny that a company which is so vocal about being the #1 cutout supplier would only warranty their product for 90 days. Hmmmm.
