ok i know very very little about these cars but i looked under my 99 TA and it has a y-pipe with no cats at all and my engine light is coming on. what little ive found is the cats and the o2 sensors causing this.
my car boggs down and im guessing this is the reason?
If so how can i get rid of this problem without putting them back on?
I know nothing of tuning so if you say it needs to be tuned tell me a good place in texas (northern) or if theres an easier/cheaper way
thanks

What are the exact codes?

The rear o2 sensors won't affect anything, just unplug them or something..ha..it's the front one you need to worry about.

do the 99's have rear ones?
i read it will effect it becuase it determines if its already hot or cold
if they are not on there can i put them back?
where can i get them?

What are the codes for? front or rear?

My car doesn't even have rear o2 sensors, neither have any of my other cars with full exhaust.

go get it scanned at autozone or something. it'll tell you what codes are being thrown. Then itll be easier to tell what the problem is.

ok guys thanks for the feedback so far ill go to autozone and see whats up then repost in this topic
ive noticed when i floor it that it bogs down really bad could that be a reason?

As long as you don't have to worry about emissions, just leave the cats off. The problems you're describing don't sound related to cats or rear o2 sensors at all. If you DID have cats, then the bogging could be related to a plugged cat.

i went to autozone and they said my front o2 sensors were bad? he said this will effect performance also

Is that all they said? Did they give you the code? AZ might be right, but I can't tell you how many times I've heard of some jackass at autozone telling people they need to replace something because the code description had a part name in it. They think that since you had an o2 code, it must be a bad o2 sensor. Didn't mean to rant there, but I deal with that a lot.

yeah they didnt give me a code exactly but they said it had a o2 code and a cat code but the cat code idc because i dont need to have them to pass but the front o2's have probably never been replaced and i dont think i need the rear ones seeing as i dont have a cat anyway

Yeah, depends on what the code is to know for sure if you need o2's. If the car has some milage on it, you may want to just go ahead and replace the front ones anyway. They tend to get lazy over time. Does it bog all the time?

they bog mainly at start but then its ok i just cant go WOT it has 130kmiles

If the code was for the o2 heaters then it's usually the sensors because the heating elements burn up over time. An easy way to check if your elements are bad is with an ohmmeter. Do a resistance ckeck on the o2 connector between the 2 wires that are the same color. I you have infinate resistance, then you will need to replace the sensor. The o2s don't read correctly til they get to 600deg f. The heating elements help em heat up faster to start sending voltage to the pcm. If your elements aren't heating the sensors, then they take a while to get warmed up by the hot exhaust.

ok it was the o2 sensors i ordered 2 of them offline im gonna put deletes in the back 2 because i dont have cats hopefully this will fix the problem if not its probly the MAF sensor

yea keep in mind that you need no prior experience with cars to get a job at autozone. i went in there asking which part # the k&n air filter would be and it took me about 3 minutes of explaining to get them to understand what i was talking about...i havent met a single car knowledgebale person at either autozone near me. they just type it in on the computer and tell you exactly what it says...

ok if thats so then what could cause my engine to bog down when i try and go WOT it just revs and barely goes even after its warmed up. i have to slowly accelerate for it to get up to the speed limit on the highway
