Default Help!!! All Parts For Cam Swap

Can someone please help me with my CAM swap. Right now I got the 90mm fast lsx intakew/throttle body, SLP lid, JBA headers, Borla exhaustw/custom Y pipe. Also somone said not to get a programmar, but I did. The DIABLO, SLP performance program, and I notice a hell of a difference. Now I'm doing something I should of did first. CAMSHAFT...I'm looking at getting the COMPS 265XR. Looked on DYNO books and its the best for street. CA's laws. Anyway...What in the hell parts do I need to get with this camshaft?!!! Could someone please give me a list. I'm talking about all the specs, I have know idea what the **** they mean. Rocker arms, push rods, driveline etc etc. Know one is giving me a clear answer on what I need to get with this camshaft. I want to do this right the first time. The place I take it to...they'll do what I ever I tell them, as long as the parts fit. I don't have time to install this stuff myself. I was thinking of getting the Patriot Kit (heads, camshaft etc. etc.....it seems to have all the parts to do a cam swap.) But their camshaft is illeagal in CA, from what people are telling me. I was thinking of using all the patiort parts and then use the comp 265xr camshaft. Would that work? Also, I got about 100,000 miles on my 00 TA. Is it worth it right now to get new heads? Please answer back as soon as possible. Do I need to worry about my suspension with all these mods? Thanks.

at the bare minimum you will need springs and new gaskets to go along with your cam idk if that cam reqires the comp r lifters. does it have xer lobes? but bare minimum you will just need a spring kit. i woud highly suggest replacing the oil pump and timing chain with the miles you have n your car its just a PITA to get eveything back together and 30 miles later the oil pump to go out. i would suggest oil pump, timing chain, spring kit and push rods. you will need a new crankshaft bolt but that comes in a lot of gasket kits.

Read through this write-up to see what you will need. I just recently went through a cam swap so I will give you a quick run down:

- Make sure you have a 24mm 1/2" drive socket. A lot of kits don't come with one so you will have to purchase it seperately
- You MUST, and I repeat, must pick up a longer crank bolt to get the crank pulley off. We picked one up from a Sears Hardware store (not a regular Sears). The specs are M16 x 2.0 pitch x 120mm long

For the cam swap on my buddy's car, we went with a TSR 233/239 112 LSA cam, Patriot dual valve springs, hardened pushrods, LS2 timing chain, and ported LS6 oil pump.

You're going to need a valve spring removal tool. My friend purchased Crane Cam's tool and it worked absolutely flawlessly once we got it set up correctly. It allowed us to do 2 springs at a time. It was expensive ($125+ I think), but you might be able to borrow one from a member on here. I think someone rents cam swap tools.

Also, you'll want the LS1/LS2 Basic Camshaft Swap Gasket Package Part #111-10-LS . It comes with the gaskets you need and a new harmonic balancer bolt.

The minimum parts required for the cam swap:
Aftermarket camshaft of your choice
Here is a good small one

Aftermarket springs
I like the comp units for most applications

harndened pushrod
7.4 works for most applications

Crankshaft bolt
I suggest using the arp unit as it can be reused
this is a ls1 bolt!
