Default A body fuel lines

Want to check and see how you guys ran/use for fuel lines.
Will the stock type/location work? I know I'll need a bigger return line,5/16".

Wow, a 5/8" fuel line? This is only going to be an lq4 w/bigger cam! I didn't think the stock return line would work and it's 1/4" I thought.

For a mild motor with a cam I would think a 1/2 feed and 3/8 return would work.

I am also using the stock lines.. 3/8 feed with 5/16 return.. but I have the Vette FPR near the tank, so I only have about 20" of return hose (-6 braided hose w/AN fittings) to the 5/16 return tube on the tanks sender.

The LSx fuel rail has the inlet on the drivers side. But I have heard that you can just take the fuel rail off rotate it 180 and then the inlet is on the pass side.

I did a frame off on my project.. so I was able put in new 3/8" Stainless Steel hard line in the stock location.. I then flipped the fuel rail 180 and connect it up with the usual AN fitting and SS Braided hose. No problem...

If I was going to do more racing or pumping up the HP. I might have done 1/2", but it is just a cruiser...

That seems like a good way to go. Did not know that. I was looking at your build pictures of the fuel line. Do those press on fittings on the FFR work well?
I know when I bought the FFR from the parts store the guy was showing me these plastic pieces that press on which I did not want. I figured I would just use comp. fittings instead but I would like to hear you thoughts/finding with the style you have.

Thanks,
Tom

Many are using the Quick Disconnect (ie Russel or other vendors) or the Compression to AN fittings. Either one will do the job ok.

That's what I was needing to know, about whether to put new SS lines back in it in the stock locations, bczee, did you use the stock return line on your 71? I can't even remember if my 71 has a return line on it? I haven't started this project yet, just trying to get things lined out b4..

My Chevelle didn't have a return line.

Since I am using a 99 Vette FPR at the rear near the tank, I didn't need to run a return line from the front to the tank. My 5/16" return line is less than 2' from the FPR return port to tank.

So I'm looking at your install bczee, and it looks great. Matter of fact, it's been excellent reference and inspiration for my install of 2002 vette ls1 into my 71 chevelle. Couple questions...I attached one of your pics...on the filter, isn't the outside the larger size line, that the pump output should feed? Am I seeing the connections incorrectly?

So the fuel pump has 3 connections, pressurized supply, return, and vent in that order (I think?) Looks like the vent goes to the looped lines that are behind the back seat...where does the other end go? Don't guess you have a diagram of the plumbing, do you?

Thanks
Rick

Yeah.. busted.. When I was putting it all together.. I had connected the wrong lines..

I found out about it after I tool the pictures when the pressure would not build up on the gauge on the fuel rail.. I then switched the lines and all was good. Good catch on the picture.. your really doing your research !
