Default Stock 2006 Trailblazer SS - 14.10@98.51 mph

I bought a used 2006 Trailblazer from a longtime friend Shane who has been on LS1TECH since it's inception. This TBSS is a strippo model with cloth seats, no navi, and no sunroof. It also has the ever so fun RWD setup that I enjoy a lot in the summer and fight all winter.

Anyway, with about 16,000 miles showing on the odometer, I took Project Big Bad Brick up to Great Lakes Dragaway. As I climbed into the driver's seat and popped in an Altoids, I saw much to my dismay that it was lightly raining, so much for Weather.com. Typically I would shitcan the trip at that point, the track is something like 65 miles from office.

Total Estimated Time: 1 hour 18 minutes Total Estimated Distance: 67.89 miles
But heck I haven't been to the track yet this year, and this a bonestock truck so worst case I get up there and they're closed, and I just go to the Brat Stop... Maybe 38 Special is doing a set, maybe Night Ranger.

15 minutes later, now it's really coming down. Feeling more stupid now. Now I'm on the Edens and it's only two lanes... DANG IT.

I'm pretty stubborn so now I have to go unless I see actual flooding.

As soon as I neared the IL/WI border I saw some sun. That's all I needed.

A quick recap of the runs, and what I tried:

14.73@94.81, 2.23 - Stalled it up to 1200, and stabbed the gas. Spun
14.76@94.98, 2.25 - Stalled it up to 1200, and tried to roll into the gas. Spun
14.20@97.18, 2.14 - Opened the hood, cooled it down for 30 min, stalled up to 1000 and rolled into the gas
14.10@98.51, 2.14 - Opened the hood, cooled it down for 30 min, stalled up to 1000 and rolled into the gas but a little faster than the earlier pass
14.27@97.78, 2.23 - Same as above, spun a lot I think the track was going away
14.35@97.98, 2.26 - Only a 10 minute cooldown, track was closing the staging lanes. Spun quite a bit, yup, the track was going away for sure

Notes:
-No weight reduction
-I think the cool downs helped
-Truck ET's suffered a lot with tire spin, best to roll out fast on stock tires
-Has a strong 2nd gear pull, but it lays down in 3rd
-72F when I got there, cloudy, cooled down to 67F
-Had a slight tailwind
-Track prep was so-so, I'd say it was B-, not a lot of slick cars there and most of the big dogs were out of it by the 330.

I'm guessing that if I went again and pulled the spare out, had some good air, and a good cool down, it would probably run an easy 13.9. I can see someone running 13.8 in extremely good air, and I recall someone on a TBSS site posting a 13.8 maybe a high 13.7 at Atco.

This is one cool truck. I've got some parts lying around here... A ported stock throttle body, a CAI, and an e-fan setup. I also have a trans cooler which I'll put on too.

Saw a guy there that I know from a few sites with an AWD strippo '07, he had a slight tune, KN CAI, and had the passenger headlight out. On my 14.1 pass he ran a 13.66@101.03 on a 2.02 short time. Pretty cool.

Default Tb/ss

Not Bad Times. For A Stock 06' TB/SS. I Also Have What You Would Call A Strippo Model 06' And The Best I Could Get Out Of It Was 14.4@98.1. I Had A 20 Min Cool Down, Burn Out,Stalled It To 1800(Stock Stall) 60' Was 2.0 No Wheel Spin, And My Reaction Was .007. Is The Air That Much Better Up There Or?? My Elevation Was At 4,000Ft. Temp Was 48Deg.

Elevation is 778, and the DA probably wasn't too good given that it was raining 10 miles away. It was 67-72F out when I was running.

That's pretty good. Mine ran 13.7 with my own tune (otherwise stock down to the air filter). I recently removed the air silencer inside of filter assembly and retuned it. It has a lot better throttle response and seems to pull harder. I will take it to the track later this year.

Right on par. We have one here local that went 9.4 stock in the 1/8th. I tuned it, put a cold air on it, and magnaflow catback and it went 8.6 at 81.5. We just did a cam, TFS 225, 3600 verter, and headers and it ran 7.7 at 90 spinning pretty good out the hole. Trucks are very impressive! And are a blast to drive.

If I see some good air next Tues/Wed I'll take out the spare, air down the rears and try some stuff to run a 13.9 stock, otherwise I'll put on this CAI and ported TB I have.

Congrats again John! I am on the tbss site (ohno).

Anyways drop rear tire, lower rear tire pressure, and put some air in the fronts. That should get you a 13 something. Mine and a friends tbss went 13.79 at 99 stock in 65-70 weather at 41 but we both pulled a 1.9 60'. The killer is going to be the weather once these trucks heatsoak you might as well just sit back and watch.

Dont forget with the CAI you will need a tune if you get rid of the reducer going to the air filter.

I think I could have pulled a 2.0 if the track had been better and I had some weight out, like that spare which folks are saying weighs 70 lbs. I had a 20-30 lb box in the back too, so had I taken out the spare it might have been an easy tenth. Hrmmm.

I never ran mine in the 1/4 but my best 1/8 mile was 9.02, forget the mph. It was 2500' DA but I had a tune to take out the torque management that knocked about a tenth off. Same truck really, 2wd stripper with sunroof being the only option. It didnt spin the tires at all off the line just nailing it at ~1000rpm so I had some better prep I think

I think 12.9 would require CAI, tune, e-fans, !jack, DR's, and maybe headers... I don't think any of the veteran TBSS'ers have gotten into the 12's without a converter or engine work. But I've seen that a lot of them have run 13.2-13.3 with light boltons.

the converters are tight as **** on these things, torque management sucks, and they are super sensitive to IATs. I thought the GTOs had heatsoak problems, boy was I wrong.
