Default Cam swapped, rocker arm keeps coming loose

I bought a cam from a friend of mine and one of the rocker arms has come loose twice now. Not sure why it's come loose but I've been told that he put some loctite on i to try to prevent it from happening again. I'm not very mechanically inclined and I don't currently have the time myself to learn and tinker with these cars yet so I've trusted it to someone else.

Anyone else have a similar problem to this and could possible tell me why the rocker arm keeps coming loose? Do you think the loctite will work and that I have nothing to worry about? My car is a 2000 SS. Thanks.

From what I was told yes. Only one has come loose though and it was torqued just like the others were supposedly.

They need to be torqued down & then the motor needs to be turned over & they need retorqued. I've had this happen before when I had someone else work on my car...

Here is the tightening procedure. Loctite should hold as long as there are no other issues causing this, however, you need to clean the bolt hole and the bolt with denatured alcohol or other solvent to ensure there is no oil. Otherwise Loctite will not bond correctly and therefore won't hold.

I believe it's 22ft-lbs for the rockers with a dab of loctite... ls1howto.com is down right now (...?) or else I'd confirm it there.

EDIT: vettenuts covered it, but I neglected to READ

definetly 22 ft lbs. and loctite is a must if you dont want to have to check them all the time. Good idea though when reinstalling them; to run the car for a day or two and then recheck them to make sure the loctite has bonded and nothing is loose.

I've had better luck torqueing to 26lb ft to prevent the rocker bolts from backing out. Most torque wrenches are highly inaccurate at the lower 25% of the scale to begin with.

Could be that for some reason that lobe is going flat.

Got the car back last night and it seems to be holding up great. Thanks everyone for your help. I can't describe how much better I felt after reading some of your posts.
