Ya I work swing shifts so I know exactly what you mean. I think what it is, is, when youre working nightshift youre fighting to stay awake, and your body tries to get used to it after awhile, and then on days off or dayshifts, youre up during the day instead. So youre body just says F*** you, make up my mind already, and doesnt really know when its supposed to sleep.

Plus not to mention as you said, most people on regular time then get involved in your life, and you dont want to miss out on those things, so you try to stay up for them and then eventually it catches up tho and you get right burnt out and crash, hahah.

This is why I'm trying to get off of 3rd shift.

If your g/f came over and woke you up, make her put out. That should help you sleep.

I used to work casual on the ambulance service doing transfers long distance, taking off at 5 pm getting back at 6 am, definately sucks. One of my big problems was not eating when I got home, if you're body is hungry it's gonna stay awake. Plus I got a huge blind for my window so no light gets in, a little bit of light and I can't sleep.

I used to work 6pm to around 7am Sunday night through Friday night. When I first started i would sleep from the time i got off until abotu 5pm when i had to get ready for work. After a few weeks it got to where i would get home at 7am and go to sleep and wake back up at 12 - 1pm and couldnt go back to sleep but i wouldnt get tired until i got off work the next morning. I guess its just something you have to get used to.

Completely got you. I was up like 30 hours which I did a ton of shit, on the car ride home I couldn't sleep to save my life even though my body was begging for it. I came home and laid down an hour before I finally slept.

One weekend racing in 4 nights I got like 18 hours sleep, drive home a few hours and still took me like 2 hours to get to sleep. Slept 4 or 5 hours, go to school and didn't sleep till like 2 the next morning.

I'm the sort that can't ever fall asleep but once I'm asleep I want to stay that way.

I work nights as well, 7pm - 7am. But it's nothing like the hours I put in during a Med. cruise in the navy. Very common to be up 2 or 3 days straight preparing for unreps on my ship. Talk about being tired. Nothing worse than finally getting some time off to sleep but you can't because it's 2am, you're starving, and the freaking galley is closed.

If your on any kinds of medicines like concerta or adderal it can have a lasting affect depending on how much you take and your tolerence. You feel so tired but can't fall asleep. Caffine can do that too in some cases.

If I touch caffeine late at night I'm screwed. Generally medicine doesn't effect me but caffeine gets me wired. If I touch a mountain dew it's at least 5 hours before I can sleep. Booze doesn't make me drowsy either so I'm just SOL.

I've been working nights for 3 years and I'm still not completely used to sleeping weird hours. I've certainly become better at it, but no matter how long you do it, the world simply does not revolve around your "time" so to speak. I love how my friends complain about there "boring" 8-4 cubicle job that pays well, has good benefits...etc. I'd love to have a freakin cubicle at this point.

Several nights last week. On a stress level from 1 to 10, I had a couple of nights about 87 :(
