Noise on 2-3 shift
I have a 98' T/A with a Trans Go shift kit, and a 2800 stall converter. New after market driveshaft. Problem is on the 2-3 shift and only when going easy on the throtle I get a noise. Something like a dull thud. Under harder accelleration no noise. It could be from the trans or from the rear end hard to say the way sound travels. would this be normal wiyh a shift kit?

I too have the transgo kit and did the 2-3 apply hole a little big in the sep plate. The clunk is probably just the clutches engaging quickly which is the reason I got the kit

What we have found is the timing between the band in second releasing and the third gear clutches applying, there is a slight bind in the shift. We've made the hole for the third gear firmness smaller and most of the clunk is gone. I've had this problem with my own car and I bought a new plate from GM just to try, and it seems to have worked fine. You can tune the trans for a firmer shift when you accelerate harder off the light with your laptop. Hope this helps.
