Default Rear Mount..Stock Manifolds/Shorty Headers

ok well i know everybody is saying stick with stock manifolds for a rear mount setup wich most likely im going to do but what if i got a set of shorty headers custon Y-pipe and wrapped everything wouldnt that give me a smoother flow because of the shortys and still keep the heat in with the wrap or should i just stay with stock manifolds and just do a custom y from there to get rid of the cats and the smashed pipe on the driver side

Stay with the manifolds, they will retain heat better then wrapped headers. Plus the fit better, do not leak and are not hard on plug wires.
