new bare heads, new valves, is any machining necessary for install
I guess I missed the boat on patriot's assembled stock 243's for $425, so I have found a good deal on a set of new bare castings. If I was to purchase new vavles, and had the new bare castings, could I assemble them at home with no machining to the valves. I know when you get a set back from the machine shop that have had the valves done, they have the dye where they have been seated properly after the regrind, but if you just buy a set of new assembled ones, it looks to me like they have just been stuck together with new parts. I don't think it would be too cost effective if I bought all the new parts, then had to pay for a valve job on top of that. Any help appreciated, or if anyone knows of another sponsor that has those heads for that price let me know.

If nothing else, at least lap the valves into their respective seats to make sure that the seats / valves are sealing properly - inspect each seat and valve after lapping to make sure you have an even contact pattern.

If they are the same size as which the 243 castings came with it will work which is what 2"? It would be wise to take it to a machine shop to get the guide clearance checked out also as it could vary with new valves and get it lapped in.
