Default Please come in, auto body questions.(want to fill in exhaust openings on ws6 bumper.

I want to "fill in" the exhaust openings on my ws6 bumper. Has anyone done this?
Can I use fiberglass and fill in with bondo?
My car is mainly race with true dual dumps before the axle so the openings are useless and I thought they would look cool filled in.
Any help appreciated.
Or just tell me I'm nutz and to forget it.

Fiberglass will not properly bond to the bumper, and will eventually crack. You will need a 2-part adhesive such as 3m's automix or lord fusor products. The best thing you could use as a filler panel is a piece of an old bumper since they are made of the same material.

yes definitly use a filler panel of some sort. fiberglass and bondo by itself will crack very quickly and then fall out

I'd plastic welding a filler panel in. See if a local body shop will let you have an old bumper that is gonna be tossed out.

Why not just get a Firebird/Formula bumper?

Like others have said. Use an old bumper to fill and I've always liked Lord Fusor. That has been a question in my mind for a while. Good luck with it

Thanks for all the replies. If I fill it with another piece of a bumper what would I use to smooth it out if I can't use bondo?

I've though about the firebird bumper but I think for my car the trans am bumper looks much better and also I've already modified the bumper to fit bigger tires so I don't want to have that done again.

dyna de lite has a flex agent in it that should work also, you can find it at autozone next to the bondo.

How about doing the CETA mod to your rear bumper? Semi-gloss black or satin black will help hide those openings quite effectively.

Thanks for all the replies.
I actually just finished doing the CETA mod in flat black like Jeep junkie said and I think it looks great.
I will post up some pics with the flat black wheelie bars mounted some time today.
