I have not yet removed the cam but here is a pick of one of the rollers



Looking at the cam through the lifter bores, it looks about the same. I will be removing it sometime this week and will post some picks of it.

I can't be upset, I have about 50k miles on this cam and a touch over 80k on the stock lifters. I am just glad I decided to tear the car down when I did. I was going to install some aftermarket heads and leave the TR224 cam in for a little longer. But I will be adding a new FMS cam along with some LS7 lifters soon enough.

did you see anything in your recent oil changes? one would think something wearing that badly would be evident.

i wouldn't chalk it up to normal wear and tear...

i had about 78k on stock lifters and 56k on a 224 cam and when i pulled the heads they looked perfect...

No excessive debre on the tip of the drain plug, but that is a subjective exam.

I am thinking that I was getting some consistant valve float that may have caused some of this.

dayum, never seen a lifter like that. How do the others look? Could be a faulty valve spring.

they all look about the same except for 1 or 2 look decent but not great.

well, just make sure the cam lobe is okay so you don't mess up a new lifter when you replace it
