7,500rpm+ with hyd lifter?
I have the heads off my motor right now and ordered up some Caddy lifters. Motor reved fine to 7,400 previously with factory stock LS1 lifters. I'm switching to a single plain and think it might want a little more RPM.
Whats the highest rpm you have seen Caddy lifters at?

Didn't GM redesign the lifter for the cts-v race team because they intended to run high rpm with them?
I guess the question is what other things are you doing to ensure that the motor will safely spin that high. Specifically rod bolts and the top end of the motor including pushrods, valve springs, rockers etc.

The motor is a built forged bottom, good heads, Crane 832 springs.. The only thing that wasn't done was the lifters as I never planed on spinning it that high. Well, things change Heads are off and I have a set of caddy lifters sitting brand new in the box.
99Blanco, Thanks for the tip on the Morels. I just wonder now if I should keep them or go with the Morels.
What are people spinning the Caddy lifters to?

I thought I read that GM spun the cts-v's to close to 8000rpm because of the displacement regulations imposed on them. So they went with a shorter stroke and made up the horsepower by spinning them higher, which I would guess is close to 8000. I'm sure one of the guys at Katech should be able to help as I'm just speculating.

Well I'm sure the caddys are fine (they were and are in my last combo), I'm paranoid about hydraulic lifters so I looked for a compromise between a solid and hyd. They are very much more expensive, 575-600 I think so it's a semi expensive decision. I was looking at 7000-7500 rpms and semi big power. Just one of those parts that can be upgraded without adding huge cost but does add reliability. IMO
TO do or not to can be debated on both sides equaly so I'm neutral on it. We are using them in a 408 build we are doing for a customer currently.

Caddy lifters can spin that high because they use Ti valves . The Morel lifter that 99blanco mentioned is the HLT which is like a solid roller but has a hydraulic piston with very limited travel and requires adjustable rocker system . I was wondering if these were still available , does anyone know if the Morel HLT lifters are still available ?

Solid is more work. You dont need to worry about adjusting these but you get the security of a solid lifter basicaly. I'm paranoid but I also dont want to have to go through checking them and adjusting. ( you can mess them up easily if your having a bad day) Its a compromise between my paranoia and a solid lifter.

THis is more info on those Morels
Like you said, if you want to play.. you have to pay..LOL
When you want to get those rpms up there it's a whole new ball game from a reliability stand point. And thats where the money goes.
You simply have to run a system, adjustable or not, that can get you in that range. I have done non adjustables as well but the adjustables are easier of course.
