So this is my question guys. With the mods I have in my sig in my 99Z I want to know what the best way to launch it is from your experiences, this past weekend at MIR I was trying to stall it up as high as I could but because of a brake issue I was only able to get it to stall to like 2800 rpm and doing that I was only cutting 1.88 60's and just stabbing it from idle I cut a 1.85 60'. What do you think is the best way to launch an auto car with a 3600SS converter? Should I only stall it to like 2000 rpm or something like that? Just curious what you all think. Thanks

I find out how high i can take my stall up to (right before the tires start to break loose) and once i find that, i rev up to that RPM and wait for the stage and just put the pedal to the floor. Works every time. But I've also read where people just floor it once the light turns green and that works too, but I've never tried it myself.

If the track will hook I like to go off idle with the nitrous coming in at 3k. It seems like the car will 60' better that way

same here man..well sorta..i rev my'n to about 1200 or so just to slightly preload the drivetrain to help take some of the shock off of my stock 10 bolt..but than i just let it rip..if i do it like this the converter will flash slightly higher than its 3000 stall speed which seems to help because this is how i get my best 60 foot times.

With my 3500 and Nittos I was cutting high 1.7's off idle. I tried stalling it up to 2k and my 60's were in the high 1.8's. I haven't tried launching it with the 3.73's yet...

never raced at the track, but ive heard of a few guys who roll off the line, and then hammer it. ive also heard bout stalling it up to bout 1500-1800rpm and push the gas halfway down to get it moving then floor it all the way too.

SS3800 - 3.23s - MT DRs:

Stall up to about 2500 RPMs; leave a WOT = mid-1.6s.

I'm going to try a different technique next time - I've never left in "1", always in "D", so I'm going to see if it makes a difference. I've noticed in the past that if I try to stall much higher than I do, that the tranny will shift into second and leave in second. I'm wondering if I force it to stay in first, if I can stall higher, and get a better time.

Anyone tried that before with good results?

It really depends on what tires you have and what the track can handle that day. My best 60' was from around 12-1500 then just wot off the line; but the track was really sticking that day

I have the SS3600 and was playing around with it at Atco recently. My best 60' foot times were off of idle. I was getting consistent 1.69's launching off idle. When I was launching anywhere higher than that my 60's varied in the 1.7's. The only true way is to test it out yourself but I would say based on my experience launching from idle seems to be the best, of course every car is different.

1.535 (first time out) 60 foot with 4 17's around the corners (F1's up front, 275 17 MT's on the rear). "3800 + race weight." YANK SS4000 stalled up to 3250 on the line. Less on my car and it went slower that day. Later on, with more tire under the rear it will be tested again at lower rpms.... Every combo is different and track surface/prep can play havoc.

To bad the video I took was from the back, I was told both front 17's were in the air for a second

Well then this has got me wondering what is going on with my car. With the mods I have just stabbing it off the line I am only cutting 1.85 60's. The car is making power, I just got it dynotuned and on a mustang dyno with the converter unlocked it made 318 rwhp and 318 rwtq. My best time this past weekend was 12.6 at 107.6 and that was with a horrific 1.88 60'. I would like to be seeing some 1.75 60's at least if not even some 1.70's or 1.68's or so. What do you guys think, is it something I am doing wrong?

BTW I was not spinning from what I can tell, it was dead hooking and I was still cutting those horrible 60's.

I wonder if this is what is happening to me too when I stall it up. I try to stall it to at least 3k, I have never noticed it shifting into 2nd but maybe I am just not noticing it.
