Default Arco gas after 1 year...

Thought I'd just post this to show what gas to NOT put in your car. Now grant it that I ran 93 octane, fuel additives AND the pistons were sanded down clean 1 year ago to the month. Also, the engine gets bored next week! Can't wait!

Oh ok. I had thought for a second it was some kind of welding sheilding gas that he'd rigged to run in his car lol.

I don't think it was the gas. Probably a little oil pulled in through the PCV or valve seals. No big deal.

Bill clinton screwed us I think in 1994 IIRC and relaxed the standards for the concentrations of fuel detergents required in gasoline. Many companies then cut back on their additive to save/more profit. This caused GM, T-ota, BMW and some others to recommend only certain brands of fuel to be run called "top tier" who still maintained high additive levels. Google "top tier fuel" and you can find out who has it. Around here it is Chevron and Shell. BTW, Techron which is the trademarked additive in Chevron I have been told by a GM tech is the same additive you get if you go to a GM parts counter and ask for "GM topend engine cleaner" I always try to run TT fuel and do a Techron bottle at every oil change.

I will be running Chevron or Shell gas from now on. Well I'll probably be having to run race gas pretty soon depending on what sort of compression my engine ends up making. Currently I'm at 9.51:1 compression but with the new bore job on the block and head gasket set I maybe in the neighborhood of 10 or 10.5:1 ... NA of course
