Question HELP removing axle shafts from MOSER 12 bolt

I need to find out how to remove the axle shafts from the housing.

I have a MOSER 12 bolt with leaky axle shaft seals (and rear cover but thats another story). Trying to get to them I have already taken the cover off but cant figure out how to get the axle shafts out. I have only done this to my stock 10 bolt so it had the weak little c clips that were a breeze to get out. I had the moser built without them so they are in there differently, crap . So here i am...

Any info on this would be greatly appreciated thx.

Take out the four bolts that hold the brake bracket on, these also hold the wheel bearing flange in, which holds the axles in.

Sweet I should be able to figure it out now. All i have to do is sift through all the sludge that is covering the backing plate, e-brake piston and everything else then i should be fine. Thanks!!

I unbolted the four bolts and the backing plates fell off. I still cannot pull the axles out though. The 12 bolt was built by Scott @ Driveline Solutions before he went completely rogue. Are there any other solutions the 12 bolts have for holding the axles in, other than c clips and c clip eliminators? I am stuck, and the axles are stuck as well.

How do I remove the wheel bearing flanges?

Yes, you just pull them out. Sometimes they will be stuck in there and you need to persuade them. Bob

Which cover do you have? We have found the standard chrome cover to sometimes leak unless you remove the chrome plating from the section where the gasket resides. Bob

We generally don't have a problem with the alum performance cover leaking. Bob

my friend was filling the rear and dropped a piece of tubing in it, a while back. So we had to pull the cover. We must have used too much gasket maker or not let it dry long enough. The leak was very slow; it did not drip; it just was causing a mess. I think the leaky seal was the bigger issue; it was causing problems with my rear brakes.

I know this is a old thread, but do you have the part #s for the axle bearings and seals?

The chicago rawhide part is cr15142 for the seals which can be picked up at oreillys

this below is from here

"Moser part # 9508B
Since you are running the inner housing seals you could also go to the auto parts store and get a Federal Mogul 514003 bearing or a BCA 88128RA bearing. They are the same bearing except they do not have the external O-Ring on the bearing race."

You may have pressring to seal interference if the pressrings are the new thick style. I know the Federal Mogul 514003 and the Moser 9508B now come with a thicker pressring which on a Moser 9inch Fbody housing causes contact.
