I need a stronger 10 bolt rear and don't wanna spend 2500 on a 12 bolt and lose more power through it. what can be done to a stock 10 bolt to make it stronger??

T/A differential cover with bearing girdle. Actually pre-loads the bearing caps to prevent distortion. This will help, but this is still a very weak rear-end. I ran with Nitto Drag Radials for about a year, with some serious launches, but I felt I dodged a bullet. Just know you are living on buried time and you will be fine. :)

If you have an auto, you should be fine all the way deep into 10s.

There's no guarantee as to how long a 10 bolt will last, it may break on a 13 pass or it may break on a 10 sec pass. Simply put, it's too small to handle stock power let alone modded.
Get a 12 bolt and suck up the power loss. You'll more than make up for the power loss in the fact you can launch with confidence with full power.

^^^What he said. You won't lose that much power anyways. Not enough to notice. I went to a 9" with just bolt ons and the car doesn't feel any different really, but now I can leave off the line at 5500rpms and make up for what little I did lose.

JEG'S or T/A Aluminum differential cover, strange axles and straight cut gears (they whine but are stronger).

Agreed. I see a ton of autos going fast with no problems. Just preload on launch, and it won't be so hard on your rear.
