What's the lowest parts under the car?
Probably the plastic front damn that is already pretty scraped anyway, but it sits far back towards the engine.
Any rubbing or scrapes on dips yet Nacho?
Surprisingly, no none yet to speak of.

I Just wanna get a feel to make sure it's ok to drive around without too much fear.

Inclines and bumps require low, low speed. With 20's you'll probably sit a bit higher than me as well.

He's on 22's, but with the right tire size, more times than not the height does not change with wheel size.
Regarding the spring compressor, didn't you have access to an autozone? You can borrow theirs. That's my plan.

I don't have an autozone nearby, but I have a PoopBoys and they wanted $75/hour to use their wall mount spring compressor/lift bay (that's doing my own work too!). I figured I would be there for about 2-3 hours so I had a buddy do it for me who knows Chevy's well (my go-to guy if I can't do something on my own) and I just paid him. Rather pay him then the queers @ PB.

Got an alingment yet? If so did you have any problems getting camber set? I'm thinking of setting my camber to straight up in the back when I get my wheels mounted like whats-his-name did with his black lowered GXP on black rims, because I hate the way the rears tilt outward (negative camber).

I got a reply to my part inquiry from SSC and to my surprise...they're MUCH more expensive than what you guys found. However, they have a 2"/3" drop kit for the Impala:
We have two types, and below are the prices.
part no. Drop (Font/Rear) Price
21-2711 2" / 3" $271.66 plus $50 shipping and handling
21-2712 1.5" / 1.5" $281.55 plus $50 shipping and handling.
Please call us at 604-591-9898 to place your order. We do accept credit card orders.
Thank you.
Andrew
Did you guys use a coupon code or something? I sent a reply eMail asking what's up with those prices. I know someone posted that they recently went up ($30 or so?) but to see $130 more than what you guys paid is definitely a deterrant to me getting these.

I had the car aligned right after the springs were put on. Drives straighter and doesn't vibrate the wheel like stock.

Someone said that prices went up "due to rising costs in steel" right after I bought them. Looks like I bought them at the right time. 2"/3" is a big drop, do the Imps really sit that much higher than the MC's?

Damn thats a little expensive Buff, why not get the Eibachs? I think I paid like $250 or something. Are you really thinking of getting 2"/3" drop springs? 1" difference between the front and rear is too much of a difference IMO and will probably not look right. Not to mention you will probably need to do some cutting inside the wheelwells with a drop that low, and say good bye to your front spoiler. That is also going to drastically limit suspension travel which means it will probably ride like shit. Camber adjustment is also going to be an issue. Dropping the car that much just has bad new written all over it, but if thats what you want more power to ya!

To be honest, I don't think the Monte sits any lower than the Imp in stock form. Not sure why that big drop is available to us and not you. No one had mentioned it before, or at least not that I had seen. The cost of steel did not go up THAT high. One of you guys posted that their price went up something like $30 b/c they got them after the price increase.
SSWS6, Oh, absolutely not...no 2"/3" drop for me, thank you. If the price is that high, I'll definitely do something else (Eibach) instead. How do you like them after all this time? How many miles on your struts?
Someone here was selling the Eibach kit a while ago...I'll have to check w/him to see if he still has it.
EDIT: got a response re: Impala SSC Springs:
Impala SS uses a different design from the Monte Carlo or Grand Prix or the regular Impala. The design calls for a higher rate and higher loads, and therefore requires a heavier wire. The manufacturing process is a little more complex. Hence the extra cost.
Andrew
Anyway. I'm not interested in paying $300+ for these...so I'll be looking elsewhere. Pretty certain I have to do the struts, too, so I need to factor in another $200 or so as well. Only saving grace is that I'll put them together myself and save on install.

I don't know about you guys, but 3" would put my tire up into the fender. That's a little much. I like the lowered, aggressive look, but I don't want the gangsta look with the tires rubbin' all up in the fenders. That sucks about the SSC pricing, and I didn't know that these cars were all that different. I bet Eibach is perfectly good...so go with them Buff. But if you do go with SSC, they customer service and quality is top notch.

I like them very much and people that have been in my car before and after the install don't notice any difference in ride. I think it rides a slight bit stiffer, but not enough to complain about. My struts have 32k miles on them. When I first got the springs I was thinking of getting new struts, but now that I've had the springs for awhile I don't see any reason to. I just put my new wheels/tires on yesterday and one thing I did notice is the passenger side of the car seems to sit just a bit lower than the driver side, but I'm hoping that the car just hasn't fully settled from being jacked up yet.

B/c I (cough) tow (cough) with the car, I think I've stressed my struts & springs in the rear too much, which is why I'm leaning towards doing them both at the same time. No sense taking it all apart, installing the springs, only to find out that the struts can't handle the lessened amount of travel.
Glad you like them. After I get HPt, I think I'll start putting money towards the springs & struts....pushing the D/S rotors & new pads further down the list :bang: But I STILL need to roll the fenders, so I guess I just reorganized my priorities within the same post :D
