To small of a cam.....on a 402 it will be out of rpms/air quick....the turbo will still be pulling if your running an 88mm.

Way too small, who spec'd the cam.
Looks like a good cam for fuel mileage though!

just talked to the guys at virginia speed and they assured me that that cam is more than enough for my set up. he said with 20-22lbs on my turbo i should be seeing power levels like 1100-1300rwhp on race gas... turbos reach a point to where they aren't as efficient and this cam is more than adequate to push my car to 7000-7200 rpm limit...
on 18 lbs im expected to be around 800-900 on pump gas

that cam is going to peak way to low to carry to 7k rpm and 1000+ rwhp.

I am sure it will suffice just fine but I'd never run that if I was in your shoes. It call always be better and wouldn't take a genious to spec that one out better. Many go with bigger cams in stock engines and less dramatic FI setups. Until I get my 370 dropped in I jsut finished installing a 22/224 .581/.581 114 LSA on my stock block and I was worried it was too small. Plus I love lope I couldn't dream of going with a smaller cam on my stock engine.

I also don't like reverse split cams in any combo, maybe the TR230 on stock heads and full bolt on's but can't think of any other one. Really I am sure you will be fine though as FI setups make sick power even on small cams. If you plan on spinning to 7k which there is no reason you should be, than yet, you probably will run out of steam up top and have the power fall off.

Heck I'd go with a 03+ Z06 cam before that one myself. I like everything else in your setup though and I'd go with Speed Inc's and a few others big cube turbo grind. Its a 236/236 115 LSA, not sure on lift though. High .59x or low .60x somewhere's in there. Even if you want stock like driveabilty, that cam for a 402 is way small IMO.

You will make sick power but why limit the gains by a baby cam. I'd take an off the shelf cam before that spec'd out one. I myself got one spec'd out by comp for my 370 and I am confindent it will do great in all area's.

Good Luck and enjoy!

Why? Ever ran one or seen one in person preform poorly?

And to the origional poster, your cam is WAY small for a 408. It is about the same as a STOCK C5 Z06 cam with a tad more lift. That's right.....a stock cam for a 346 cube N/A motor. I would reconsider how knowledgeable your builder is if he claims 7k+ rpms and 20lbs of boost with this baby cam.

Many VERY seasoned engine builders are "wet-behind-the-ears" when it comes the the LS1 world. They may build one helluva SBC/BBC........but when it comes to late model engines they just haven't learned what works.
