Default road race tires help

hello i had a ? maybe stupid but i was wondering if road race hoosier r3s04 225-50-16 tires would work for dragstrip if they would hook ? thanks

im not sure of the specific model you listed, but in general road race/autox tires have a very, very stiff sidewall to help resist lateral forces while cornering. you want the exact opposite when drag racing. you could try it, for the hell of it. drop the pressure to 25ish, heat them up (not overly) and see what happens. at least theyll grip alot better then normal street tires would, but theyre still not a real DR or drag slick.

I race on hoosiers, They are the worst tire for straightline traction. They are made for lateral grip and are ultra stiff.

I've done it...definately not the ideal tire. With real low pressure, if you cook the **** out of them, they do...okay...at best.
