Default whining noise from rear

I have a 2002 t/a and a few days ago it started making a whining noise from the rear. It is only when i brake or take my foot off the gas. It stops around 15-20 mph. I havent done anything to it in a while. A buddy said i should check my fluid and will do that tomorrow but I am also looking for other suggestions.

I believe the whole rear end is stock... I replaced the left axle about 3-4 months ago and all new axle bearings were put in bout 5 months ago.

New bearings can make noise when new. Mine did it when I replaced mine for a short while then went away.

Yeah my 2000 ss is making the same noise when i'm coming to a stop or take a turn and apply the break. Doesn't make it all the time just about 1/4 of all stops and turns. If you have any ideas I would also like to know. Stock rear end here also.

mines making a clicking noise.. (like a card on a bike spoke, goes with the speed, very noticable when pulling in the garage, on the highway when going up hill, etc)..Ive always had a whine from my rear (3:73's installed by OO), but latley this "clicking" noise is REALLY noticable...sorry for

will be pulling my cover off, just had my pinion seal re-done in March by a local dealership (free)

any tips would be appreciated

There are not many reasons why a rear would do that only on coast, excluding abuse. Most likely the pinion preload has changed or one of your new bearings is starting to wear in enough to increase clearance in the gear pattern.
