Hey guys im getting ready to build another 370 I should build a 408 but my brother and I are building a budget 9 sec race car. Well nothing is budget. Car is stripped we are still taking weight off of it. im hoping to get it around 3200. I would like some imput on building a 370 going to do a direct port and I havent decided to go with a victor jr intake or a fast or do a l92 on the top with l92 heads. We are just wanting the car to make it into the 9s. Any help would be great. Cam size, heads , pistons refief. thanks trans T400 with t brake

For drag racing I would go with a victor jr over a fast. How much do you plan to spray? You need to have an rpm range you plan to run it in before you can have someone tell you buy this cam. Higher the rpm the more expensive valve train parts you'll need. You can either build it milder and spray more or big more power on the motor and spray less, which you'll have to decide first.
How far in the 9's do you want to go, 9.90, 9.10's there's a big difference.

Just would like to get into the 9s say 9.50s at best but 9.8s are fine. Going to spray at least a 300 shot.

anyone have any imput. What compression would you guys run on this with 93 octane. Or What is the highest compression you can run

11-1 is plenty for 93 pump and a 9.50 goal should be no problem with a 300 shot.

Was just going to go with a hyd. cam one thats custom grind. With spray how much lift is the best to go with. More lift? I would go solid but I want to stay on a decent budget.

it really all depends on the budget. L92 heads with a gmpp and a 4 barrel throttle body is a great high rpm setup and great for a direct port but its a bit pricey.

I heard you have to send the gmpp in to have it ported and make sure the heads are ported too. I also heard that if you go with a vic jr to make sure and have one of the sponsors on here port it to match your heads.

I find it hard to believe your not in the 9's now from what your sig. says. How heavy is your car? And what about shocks, TA and other suspension mods?

Lift is important, but what's going to work best with a dedicated nitrous cam is a wide lobe and lots of extra exhaust duration.
My old nitrous cam grind was 270/284@.050 but mine was a solid roller, either way figure your rpm range you want to be in and then have one spec'd up for you.
It's better to build it with what you have heads, cam, compression, amount sprayed, gear and go with something designed to fit your combo on spray. I wouldn't go with an off the shelf cam.

Not entirely true. Porting or polish casting? Port the gmpp only if you run and elbow. Run a 4brl accufab or other 1200+cfm and ur good too go. CNC'd L92s from gmpp are the best bargain available. As far as port matching, Always.
