Default At what point are pistons trash??

Looks like I over extended the valves and the hit the pistons
Cylinder 6 has a shallow gouge.
Some of the other cylinders have very slight scratches, just enough to tell it made contact.
I just want to get the car running descent so I can sell it our trade it in.
Can I take a dremel and smooth the cyl 6 out or what??

If you have VERY steady hands, you can try a Dremel. I would not do that route though.

I over revved my block last year and gouged 3 pistons fairly good too. They were all gouged almost dead center and if you have the patience get an emory cloth and high grit sand paper and get to work. Be very tedious just to make sure you sand down the gouge and NOT the piston face. The pistons have been in over a year now with no problems. Besides they will carbon deposit in no time flat anyhow ;-) Your pistons should be fine especially if the gouge is shallow.

I dont see why it makes a difference if you sand the piston face and not just the gouge. I mean we flycut .100 and spray 200 shot of nitrous on it right?

I believe he meant inadvertantly making a "low" spot in the piston. I could be wrong, though.

That's exactly what I meant thanks for clearing it up. Don't be hasty and just start sanding away at it. You don't want to sand a spot you didn't mean to and end up with a low spot.
