Default new thermostat

I am online right now trying to order a cooler theremostat should I get the 160 or 180 they are both 50 bucks on this website I am looking at I live in central cal it gets to be 100 easy all summer should I get the 160

I went with 160* and I live in San Jose
Also remember that the thermostat will only help keep the engine cool for a longer period of time (opens earlier when compared to 195* stat) but at 200*+ a 160*, 180*, and 195* stat all act the same, "open"
If you want overall lower engine temps (ie 190*) you either need to set your fans to come on sooner through the PCM or get a manual fan switch.

Check the owners manual and see what's in it now - mine says stock is a 180 for my year.

To take full advantage of the lower T-Stat.. you have to make sure your Fans come on at the right temp too !.. so.. reprogramming the PCM for the Fans should be done (many don't and say just the T-Stat helps, but as vjo90rs8 said.. after the engine reaches normal operating temp, that it doesn't help.)

South Florida + 160 thermo + 190 fan turn on = cool LS1

A handheld tuner, custom tune or fan turn on switch (like SLP).
