Default Headlight actuator?

So I had the headlight motor replaced in my 02 trans am last week, since the old one was dead. But that same day, it started making the same terrible grinding noise that a stripped gear in the motor makes. Seemed strange since it was a new motor that hadn't been in for more than 12 hours. So I took it back in and they say now it's the headlight actuator, can this cause the same grinding noise? I don't want to spend the money if it isn't going to fix the problem, thanks.

Nope. The grinding is from inside the electric motor from the plastic gear, so is the metal worm gear that drives the plastic round gear. Sounds like you got a dud. But before you return it, make sure the actuator arm is fully pushed onto the gear stem and the bolt tightened good.
