Default corvette cam in 99 z28

just a quick question want to get a cam but don’t want to jack up gas mileage on my Daily driver a ls1 vette has a little bigger cam than the ls1 camaro right? I'm not looking for a super duper gain what you guys think about just getting a vette cam and dropping it in the camaro that’s if the vette cam is a little bigger though.

Dude its not worth the gain (if any, which I dont think there is) to do that, I have a fairly big cam and still get 25 mpg hwy. Wwhy not at least get a gm hot cam?

There is no such thing as the vette cam unless you go with the LS6 cam. The LS1 in the vette is the same as in the camaro and trans am. Differant years of LS1 had a little differant specs but not sure what year. It wouldn't even be worth it to go with the bigger of the LS1 cam because you would see or feel no gain at all. Like said above if you are gunna do it get a hotcam or even something like a comp 220 or something in that line. I run a 228/230 and it drives about like stock and didn't really seem to hurt milage but then again you have to be ready to spend some money to get all the other parts to match up to it. Going with a smaller cam depending on what one you can use some stock LS6 valve springs. They are really cheap to buy. Just remember, anything bigger than stock cam you MUST! upgrade your valve springs

The LPE GT2-3 cam is pretty mild. Idled like stock and pulled better from about 2500 RPM's on up. I had that cam on my old '99 SS and liked it. +1 on matching the valve springs with the cam, it's very important!
