what is this??? i cant figure out where this little plastic piece came from. It fell from somewhere underneath the dash when I was putting my new clutch master cylinder in my 2001 Trans AM. does this go underneath where the master cylinder rod connects to the clutch pedal????

it slides onto the end of the clutch pedal where the master rod connects perfectly but then i cant get the retainer clip to go on since since the unknow piece is a little bit too long to get the retainer clip into the grove its suppose to be in
