electric cutout in the I pipe....$150-175 depending on how fancy/nice you want it. Put it in yourself, or a reasonable shop could put it in for probably $20-30

you could get a manual cutout for a lot cheaper if your not going to be messing with it a lot.

is it just the muffler or a cat-back system? I put an Off-road Y pipe that I bought on here for $100 on my Magnaflow cat-back and it sounds freakin awesome

cut out will be very loud but if you get an electric one you can adjust the volume by having it throttled open. Other ways to make it louder are ORY, LT's, or bigger cam. Cheapest thing to do is cutout or ORY.

never heard of anybody gutting the muffler. you'd be better off taking it out and getting a new pipe welded in it's place, same with the cats. then sell the muffler and cats and get a good bit out of them.

you should listen to cars with slp loudmouth 1 cat-backs, it should sound similar to what taking your muffler out will. really loud, but raspy, some like it, some not so much.

idk if i'd have a big effect by just replacing your muffler. if you took out your cats and muffler and sold them and bought a new cat-back, you'd be rockin. as far as choosing a cat-back, you'd just have to listen to sound clips(ls1sounds.com) and go from there. i think GMMG sounds the best but its pricey. for true duals you could either get them dumped, out the back over or under the axle, h pipe or x pipe, and theres a bunch of different mufflers to choose from. i run long tube headers and 2.5'' H-pipe out the back under the axle with single chamber flowmasters. it sounds good to me and most other people like it too. before that, i had them dumped under the car and it vibrated things inside and droned a lot. the hardest thing about true duals is finding a shop that can do a good job and not half-a$$ you. good luck man.

Cheapest way is to just drill some half in holes in the exhaust. Might not be perfect, but it'll be louder for sure.
