Default Bad luck with Eaton Differential

I bought a eaton unit from someone who told me the unit is for a 7.5/7.625 10 bolt. Come to find out it is not. The only thing he told the truth about is that it is a new uint. So will some tell me how can i find out what this unit fits, so I can try to sell it. Its to big to be for a 7.5/7.625, and no I do not have a part #.[ATTACH]Attachment 135073[/ATTACH]

Measure the ring gear and that should tell you if it's for a 12 bolt, 9", or a Dyna60.

An "Eaton unit" does not come with a ring gear on it.
Seeing if its for a 10 or 12 bolt is a no brainer, just count the ring gear bolt holes.
Other than that you're going to have to get it in the hands of a very experienced person, or maybe call Eaton, they do have numbers stamped on them.
Or at the very minimum post some detailed pictures.

Ok I counted the the bolt holes. Their are ten and the space where the axles go in are 1-1/4. This might be for a [Ford] or a [Mopar]. I will call [Eaton] on monday.

Could also be for a GM 8.5" 10 bolt, as in the GN Bufords.

I got back with someone from eaton and they told me the same thing. Its going to be hard to know what its for. So I will take a picture of it, and put it on here as a pick up sale only. Now I will ask 150.00 for it.

Count the splines on the side gears. If it's for a factory replacement you can assume these are some that are specific to ten bolts:
30 spline should be mid to late 80's GM truck 8.5
28 spline might be '73 to early 80's GM car 8.5
31 spline should be 8.8 ford truck except ranger
28 spline might be 8.8 ford ranger
It would help if you could get a pic of the inside view of the side gears to see if it's a c-clip type.

I will count the splines and try to get a picture of the inside as soon as I can.
