Alternatives to BFGs or MTs?
Since most of the guys with 500+ rwhp can be found in the FI section, I thought I'd ask here...
I'm looking for 315/35/17, and as many of you probably know already there aren't any MT ET Streets and precious few BFG DRs in stock anywhere.
Priority for me is a tire that hooks on the street, dry weather only. No autoX, no road course, this is a straight-line car. I've had Nitto 555r's, but they didn't provide the traction of either the MT or the BFG.
So are there any other radials out there that hook better than the 555r? How about the Nitto NT01, anyone rolling on those?

Besides the 555R the other nitto tires are pretty much drifting tires. last i looked there were a set of BFgs on Ebay. Mine lasted about 200 miles and never hooked worth a damn. My advice to you is buy some street tires for the 17's and get some stock 16 inch weels and use some Et streets.

I've got ~500 RWHP and I had 315/35/17 BFG's, they lasted about 5,000 miles and I could smoke them for an 1/8th mile. I then got some Goodyear GS-D3's, and they are better than the BFG's. Don't ask me why, but they are. Better dry traction. And of course, they are AMAZING in the rain, you would have to try to break them loose in the rain. I'm on my second set of 315/35/17's. My first set lasted 16,000 miles. I use Nitto 555's up front, 275/40/17. Street use ONLY, daily driver, no track visits.

I think the only tire that you're going to find that will rival the MT dr's in traction are the Hoosiers. That's what I'm going with next, after I burn through these 315/35/17 BFG dr's. There's a few guys on here that are using them and I haven't heard one complaint (besides lifespan).

I currently have 335/35/17's Hoosier drag radials on my 17x11 ZR1 rims. I think these will be hooking prety well, but I can't tell yet as I haven't been able to go WOT until I first get it on a dyno.

go with the nitto NT-01's ! i know of two guys here that use them and they hook!!! ( they're on a 427 ls rx7 and a 427 silvia ) they hook great on the street.

I ran the 315/35/17 BFG DRs on my old shop car. Ran consistant 10.7's in the 1/4 and would hook just as hard on the street with a little heat from a burn out.
At that time the car was on 8lbs and was making roughly 561rwhp/564rwtq. I already have a set for me new shop car.
