Default 2006 A4 GTO Cam Only Results!!!!

Well as u guys know PatrickG helped me along with a few others and I couldnt be happier with my results from the XER 224-230 581-592 114+2..

Car has Pace LT's,HF Cats,KN Cai,Stat,Pulley,Magnaflow Cb...
I have a VIG 3200 along with a Trans Go HD2 kit..
I was making 365/368 with this setup....

Now I just put in the XER 224-230 581-592....
Once Dale got the tuning corrected and the car idling at 775 we started to tweek the AF from off idle to redline and then added 24 degree's of timing to the car...

RESULTS AFTER CAM/TUNING
****410RWHP/365RWTQ****

The best part is I didnt lose any torque at all and kept 340 from 3200 all the way up to my peak of 365 at 4700 and kept it til 5700...

HP went up from 3500 to 6200ish at peak...
Shifts are set at 6400...

The car drives SOOOOOOOOOOOO nice with this cam,not hunting or surging at all..I even got two compliments from older guys driving fox bodies at the gas station....

It does lope ever so and sounds real nice threw my Magnaflow CB....

I am going to add a PORTED FAST to the car in a week.
I cant wait for the Weiand any longer,I know the FAST will do me well..

This is exactly the cam I wanted and I am so glad I listened to PatrickG
U are the man bro.....

Awesome results JS.

I'm about to order this cam myself but cannot make up my mind on XER or XFI lobes.
I see a number of Patricks 224/230 cams are being ground on XFI and XER lobes.
Was there a reason you went with XER lobes over the XFI ?.

The XFI will be better but I just didnt wannt push the lift up that high for my car...
I'm direct with Comp and get a real good deal on out of the box cams
Basically means I am cheap and got the cam for tee tee

Thanks JS, :-)

My Comp dealer told me the XFI lobes are slightly easier on springs compared to the XER lobes, so the bit of extra lift of XFI @ .609/.604 shouldn't hurt the valve train any more than XER @ .581/.592. Hope he's right.

Can anybody comfirm this ?.

I went with the XFI version of the 224/230 and pulled 432/400 with an otherwise stock LS6 long block. I also heard that the XFI lobes were easier on the springs, so the lobe choice was a no brainer to me. Personally, I don't see a reason why to chose the XER lobes over the XFI in this case, but maybe Patrick G or Predator can chime in and teach us a few things.

I just noticed that your peak numbers are at 6200, while mine are at 6500 (less than a 5 hp difference between 6200-6800 actually). Is this also because of the lobes?

Dont know the answer, maybe pat can give us some info on why that is but I think it might have to do with my shitty LS2 intake vs your LS6..

No worries I am going Fast real soon

Thanks Ryan L, your results were also awesome.
These Patrick G spec 224/230 cams are the ticket. :-)

I will be ordering may Patrick G spec 224/230 cam this week but would like to find out more on the XFI lobe design first if possible. My search didn't come up with much, so as you said maybe Patrick G or Predator can teach us a few things.

I wasn't trying to say your numbers are shitty or highjack your thread, but just added my thoughts since someone asked about the XFI lobes. I'm sure a ported FAST92 will wake up your GTO for sure. There was a stock Z06 on here that gained something like 25rwhp over the LS6 intake with one from Vengeance.
