I'm by no means an expert on this but when you say bangs i assume you means it sounds like it's hitting something. It's probably hitting your floor board, i know a lot of guys had trouble with this. I'm not quite sure how to fix it but im sure someone will chime in and give ya the how to, good luck!

If its banging bad enough it could cause knock retard which would pull timing. Did you clearance the floorboard where the pipe may come in contact with it?

What kind of Long tubes and y pipe are you using? You can also buy a "bump stop" hanger from a vendor like Thunder racing or Mufflex.

I had the same problem. I had my exhaust guy a clamp and bracket very similar to the mufflex one and the problem is solved.

Many people buy a piece of heater hose and fix it inbetween the ypipe and floorboard, I plan on doing this soon because I am cheap

It is hitting basically under your seat, pretty easy to see if you look under.

I have the Pacesetter LT's with the TSP ORY.

I also have spohn SOLID motor mounts.

The TSP off road y-pipe was/is hitting on the transmission cross member. I shoved a piece of aircraft grade hose with an aluminum heat shield under it and used some hose clamps to hold it together.

It stopped the banging, but the rubber sits directly against the bottom of the car, so it still vibrates a little. Not too bad, but enough to annoy me.

Basically the TSP ory is a giant pile of ****. I am going to have an exhaust shop modify the pipe so it clears the body without a jimmy rigged rubber piece under my car.

EDIT: I am going to try a bumpstop that a sponsor sells to see if it helps.

it was still a bitch, i did it all except the drivers side hole dident line up with the mount! the best way was to have the jack down all the way and one guy pry on the motor mount to frame, other guy hamering the long bolt through and another guiding the big bolt in straight

I was talking about persuading the Y. I haven't done motor mounts yet, but considering it.

DaveX, what did you pry against, and did you go from the front or the back of the Y-pipe?

I am just wondering because after installing Spohn solid mounts, and using a rubber stop between the y and the bottom of the car, it still vibrates slightly under heavy acceleration. Right now I have a piece of rubber hose wedged between my car and the y-pipe. I would rather just bend the y-pipe away from the car, but I couldn't get a good angle on the y-pipe with the pry bar without crushing the pinch weld.

Thanks in advance.

seems everyones story is different when it comes to either method of fixing the problem
so use your own judgement and either go with the time consuming headache of poly motor mounts or buy the $45 bolt on clamp that seems to work just fine.
