Sub and monsoon amp

You could use the stock amp like you mentioned.... But if you want it to get reasonably loud even then you need a better amp. The right 10/12" subwoofer on the stock amp will still be better than the stock "subs" though.

I'm just trying to go the cheap way out..I Just want a sub..How do I go about doing the sub..Can I just disconnect one of the speakers in the way back and hook the sub up to that?

You just need to look for an efficient speaker. The stock "subs" are horribly inefficient.
The bigger the speaker, the better the efficiency. Though some big subwoofers have low efficiency because they take those gains and trade them for excursion (Xmax) and frequency response. Small subwoofers, on the other hand, ALWAYS are terribly inefficient.
I'd easily take a 92dB 1W/1m efficient 12" subwoofer with stock amp over both stock "subs." (Why do I keep putting that in quotes? Because they are a very poor excuse for subwoofers hardly worth the title.)
If you do it, disconnect both stock speakers but hook only one side up to your 12".
I'd still recommend an aftermarket amp. though.
Just look at it this way.... It's MUCH better to use an aftermarket sub. with the stock amp. than it is to use aftermarket front speakers with the stock amp SQ-wise.

Dragon, thank you for the response.. That's what I am thinking..Disconnect the back speakers and hook up a 10" stealth sub/box to the left side rear. Why wouldn't it work? There's gotta be 100 watts going to the back right?

What stereo do you have from the factory, cause I have the premium sound package from the factory which comes with a cd player rated at 500W but keep in mind the car has six speakers to split that power to. But I agree with Intercooler2 because if you aren't careful you can burn a stereo up if you have a sub that requires too much power. Trust me I have been through 1 afermarket stereo in a truck and like 2 home stereos from hooking up a sub to them

OMG why are you people telling this guy to do this....
You are going to buy a stealth box for $130 and a subwoofer for $100+ but you don't want to save up a little bit more for a cheap $100-200 ampilifer, ebay has some great deals, you just have to search. Or try to find one used locally. If you try to hook up at subwoofer rated at 300W for example and you are going to run it at 30W that is just ridiculous. And just remember, that 30W is probably available if you have the volume up really really loud, at a normal listening level you might be running 5-20W to the sub, NOT WORTH IT!!! Even if you try to convince yourself "I don't need a lot of bass", STOP!!! I have done it before, try to convince yourself that doing something the cheap way is the right way, or good enough for me but you will end up regretting it. Just save up an extra $100 and do it right the first time. If anything, just upgrade your sail panel speakers if you want a little extra bass, those get all the low frequencies from the stock amp anyways and will only cost you about $100-150 for some nice ones (check out kee audio) and will most definitely sound better than a sub on the rear speaker channel.
I am going to start a thread later tonight "should I use vegetable oil instead of synthetic motor oil, I'm trying to do my oil change cheap and I don't drive my car hard anyways, so do you think it will be okay?"
In conclusion, lol, BUY AN AMP!!!, ****, I'll even donate $5 to your I need an amp fund, lol!!!

just to let you know you can get a nice little Kicker zx300.1 amp on ebay for about $90 shipped (probably rated more like 350W+), add that to a Kicker CRV 10" sub for about $75 shipped, and a stealth box for $125, $20 for a cheap amp kit, BAM, $310 and you will have a nice little system.
