In light of all the other recent new car acquisition threads here is another to look at.

My search for a 3rd gen DD is over as of yesterday. Picked up clean 91' Camaro RS w/ a 305 and 5 speed. Car is all original with 139k miles. It's dog slow but the price was right and the car compared to what I found over the last few weeks is very nice. Overall wear and tear is very low. Interior looks newer than the miles and years would suggest. It even has the original tape player w/ the original tape that came with the car describing some of it's features. Everything works with two exceptions. The cig lighter does not function (no bigee) and the fan does not come on when the car gets hot. This one is important but it can't be that hard to figure out. I can turn the fan on by turning on the AC which brings the temps down but I need to figure out why it's not coming on, on it's own. Maybe a bad sender. I believe it's on the passenger side head?

Body is clean with no damage although there are a couple of scratches and the front fascia had a patch painted with a rattle can. Cheaper than having a real shop do it I guess. Easy fix none the less.

Otherwise it could benefit from new door hinges (very common), springs, struts, and shocks are worn, brakes in front could use new pads and bled at all four corners and the ball joints need redone. Ohh, the clutch engagement is a little odd. Not much feel and it picks up and releases in the first 1/2 to 1 inch of travel. Can this be adjusted?

BTW if i didn't mention it earlier in my other thread the car is for my step daughter. She insisted on a 3rd gen, with t's and a 5 speed. She was even after this color. Lucky girl.

Here are some pics since I know that's what you guys want to see.

Yep. Ordering a couple sets from Classic industries this morning.

Thanks. I'm sure there are much nicer examples out there but they sure don't go up for sale very often. I imagine at the Camaro show at the XXX there might be a car or two for sale as people free up some more cash to buy a 5th gen in 7-8 months.

Thanks Zeke, and everyone else.

The coolest part was seeing my daughters reaction to seeing it for the first time. She didn't know we had picked one up for her. The look on her face was priceless.

What? I follow progress on this car daily at cz28.com. I know they're going to unveil the production cars and engine options etc.. Sept. 19 at Indy but I haven't seen anything about a move up in the schedule. I'm still expecting the first cars to hit dealers in Feb. 09 as has been suggested for months. Going to have to dig for some answers over their in a minute.

Zeke,

I read question 8 to confirm that the car will be a early 2009 release. It's going to be a long model run for the 2010's. This has been common knowledge for quite awhile.

Before the new information started to being released, the cars were slated to come out in Feb of 09 in to the dealerships. Thats VIA the big guy.

Camaro5 & C&G are finding out diff information that the car is already in to production faze & will be out at the end of summer BUT AS I SAID that is JUST A RUMOR!
